Susan Tierney
Vice - President
Vice-President Tierney joined the Ambulance Board in 2020. She is a graduate of the Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University. She is a longtime member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and maintained her Critical Care certification (CCRN) for over 35 years.
Vice-President Tierney spent over 32 years of her bedside nursing career working at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, in the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU). In addition to her hospital career, she served as a school nurse at both Visitation BVM and within the Methacton School District. Although she left bedside nursing in 2019, she continues to work as a substitute school nurse as needed.
Following her clinical career, she expanded her professional role into the construction industry, where she currently serves as Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Independence Steel and Erectors. She is an American Heart Association Certified Instructor and holds her OSHA 30 certification.
Vice-President Tierney has a long history of community involvement, including many years as a Girl Scout Leader and as a CYO Cross Country, Track, and Field Hockey coach at Visitation BVM. Vice-President Tierney has been married to her husband, Mike, for over 40 years. They have three daughters and have lived in Lower Providence for more than 28 years. An active person by nature, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and traveling.
